Today, the Montgomery County Juvenile Court issued an Emergency Order Suspending Visitation in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The Emergency Order applies to all "parents whose child(ren) are in the physical and legal custody of the Department of Children's Services" and suspends all in-person visitation between such parents and their children for a period of fourteen (14) days. The Order also applies to parents whose visitation is supervised by the Department or an agency contracted through the Department.
While deeming this action necessary in light of the "current public safety risks related to the COVID-19 virus crisis," the Juvenile Court also seeks to soften the effect of its Order by directing the Department to take steps to facilitate visitation via telephone, Skype, Facetime, or similar means.
