With the Tennessee Supreme Court’s emergency suspension of in-person hearings set to expire on March 31, 2020, Montgomery County courts are preparing to resume hearing cases. To comply with County Mayor Jim Durrett’s Emergency Order # 3, however, the courts will remain closed on Fridays until further notice. To minimize disruption to both parties and their attorneys, Montgomery County courts are working to reschedule upcoming Friday hearings to the immediately preceding Thursday. All General Sessions Court hearings scheduled on Friday, April 3rd, will also be rescheduled to Monday, April 6th, at 09:00 AM.
Given the continued spread of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, it remains unclear whether the Tennessee Supreme Court will extend its suspension of in-person proceedings past the current March 31st expiration date. As the situation develops, we will continue to provide new information as it becomes available.
